
Elizabeth Edwards, Senior Fellow, Center for American Progress and wife of former U.S. Senator and presidential and vice presidential candidate John Edwards, is committed to improving the lives of all Americans.
A passionate advocate for children and families and accomplished attorney and author, she is a tireless advocate on behalf of many social causes. In her book, Saving Brace: Finding Solace and Strength from Friends and Strangers, she draws upon her strength of purpose, perseverance, warmth and wit to talk openly about overcoming significant life obstacles. Her courageous battle with breast cancer serves as an inspiration to women across the country.
She is involved in a variety of charitable efforts, including the Wade Edwards Foundation, which she and her husband helped establish. Named after their late son, the foundation has provided computer learning centers for youngsters in Raleigh and Goldsboro, and has awarded thousand in scholarships and grants to North Carolina high school juniors and English programs.
