A Message from The Potentate

 

We Make A Difference to A Child

I am extremely honored to serve as the 104th Potentate of the Aladdin Shrine Temple. Little did I know the adventures awaiting me when I was asked to join Aladdin's Divan line. The Noble and Ladies I have had the pleasure of meeting throughout Shrinedom are unequaled in their support to the Shrine fraternity and its philanthropy, the Children's Hospitals.    

Having the "Greatest Philanthropy in the World" is not enough to save our fraternity. We, as well as other fraternities, face a declining membership. Our members are not walking away, but going to their Great Reward without replacement. The median age of our membership increases year after year with fewer younger members joining to offset this trend.

How can we help our membership? First, let us not forget why the Shrine was formed.  It was formed to give us a place to have fun. Only after having TOO MUCH FUN were our hospitals envisioned. Don't keep it a secret; let everyone know who we are. If there is something of interest to you , you can find a club or unit where others share the same interest. We have dances, golf outings, tailgate parties, and scenic trips throughout the year for your participation. If you and your lady enjoy the benefits of your being a member of Aladdin Shriners, don't be afraid to let others know why you enjoy the Shrine and invite them to join us

Betsy and I are looking forward to meeting with you and your families at many of Aladdin's activities this year.

Remember, without the Shrine, we can NOT make a difference to a child.
